Science communicator, sporadic traveller, lover of sounds.
Hello! I’m Paddy and this is where you’ll find out more about who I am and what I do.
What I do when I’m being busy.
I’m currently studying for a Masters in Science Communication at the University of Manchester. Science communication has been a big part of my life as I’ve always been an explainer of things and finder of facts. I currently produce and present the FuseFM radio show Rock-It Science where my co-hosts and I talk the most exciting research we’ve found that week and play out some of our favorite tunes. I am also involved in running the Manchester Pint of Science festival with the Planet Earth team, if you’re into your science and your beer you can’t miss it!
What I do when I’m not being busy.
I am somewhat restricted to the city of Manchester however when I do escape I fill memory cards of photos and will be posting some of these trips here, whenever they next occur. On top of these trips I occasionally review and interview musicians in Manchester for FuseFM so will throw these snippets about from time to time.
Who I am and where I’ve been.
I’m originally from a small village in West Sussex and after spending my childhood climbing trees, swimming in rivers and making fires I moved to Manchester for university. I studied Pharmacology for three years at The University of Manchester before moving into my current area of study; science communication.
What makes me, me and not you.
I’m obsessive about snowboarding, and fishing. Actually I get easily absorbed in most things but these two stuck.
I live with a constant soundtrack no matter what I’m doing there is music playing.
You can’t take me too far from nature without me needing to cover myself in mud or just look at a lake.
I love cooking and if you ever end up at my house I’ll do my best to throw a feast together for you.
If I could do anything with my life I’d be a travelling, science-discovering, photographing/film-making, communicator of the world.
